We specialise in the recruitment of high quality candidates in the scientific sector. We have an excellent opportunity for a QI Innovation Manager to join the Business Development and Commercialisation team, based in Norwich. This is a new role, and it will work across the QI partner organisations to manage the development of new scientific and clinical innovations arising from QI research.

The role is offered with flexible work from home days, dependant on operational needs

QI Innovation Manager’s Main Duties:

  • Support researchers and clinicians to develop relationships with industry, public sector, business intermediaries and funding organisations
  • Support QI research commercialisation and translational research
  • Bring in appropriate industry resources, technologies or skills, working with business and industry partners to establish pathways for strategic alliance to develop opportunities
  • Promote cross-organisational linking of project leaders with complementary skills, establishing new project teams.
  • Work with project teams to secure funding for idea development; evaluating new ideas and establishing development plans

QI Innovation Manager’s Skills:

  • Substantial recent experience of working in a similar or transferable role
  • Knowledge of intellectual property in a research environment
  • Knowledge of the development and commercialisation of research and innovations
  • Knowledge of project management within the context of partnership development
  • Demonstrable ability to develop, maintain and influence external networks
  • Established network in clinical development, pharmaceutical, biotech or agrifood
  • Experience in developing collaborations between research, clinical and industry partners
  • Experience of research commercialisation, licencing, market research and analysis
  • Ability to co-ordinate a range of different stakeholders and complex relationships

QI Innovation Manager’s Key Requirements:

  • Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate complex subjects clearly to different audiences
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team
  • Willingness to travel both within the UK and Overseas

QI Innovation Manager’s Education/Qualifications:

  • Post graduate level qualification in a scientific discipline (molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, food safety science, microbiology, metagenomics, or sequencing)
  • Management or professional qualification (desirable)
