We specialise in the recruitment of high quality candidates in the Human Resources sector. We have an excellent opportunity for a Payroll & HR Officer to join an education establishment.
Working with the Finance team, the Payroll & HR Officer will be responsible for processing payroll for employees, as well as performing all aspects of HR administration.
Salary: Band 4 - FTE £23,952 - £27,455. Actual salary range £20,000 - £22,000 per annum with performance based yearly increments.
Working weeks: 41 weeks (Term Time 39 weeks plus 2 weeks)
Working Hours: 35 hours per week (08:30-16:00 Monday-Friday)
Payroll & HR Officer’s Core Duties
Payroll
- Processing all payroll, overtime, contract changes, data changes, sickness and absences
- Updating and maintaining a monthly payroll change spreadsheet and deal with queries
- Printing and distributing payslips
- Processing all payroll related BACS payments
- Ensuring compliance with current PAYE, NI and various legislation
- Completing monthly pension administration duties, submitting all documentation, including starter and leaver forms
- Completing monthly and yearly documentation for HMRC, Unison, LGPS and Teachers Pensions
- Monthly reconciliation of payroll related balance sheet accounts.
HR
- Dealing with employment related queries, including maternity/paternity leave
- Ensuring initial contract documents are prepared and updated as required
- Preparing annual salary statements, record changes in pay within employees’ personnel files
- Processing all new starters, creating and sending paperwork, and seeking references
- Processing all leavers
- Processing staff absence forms, ensuring that attendance records are accurate and up to date
- Monitoring absences, identifying trigger points and arranging necessary meetings
- Preparing and collating documents for payroll
Payroll & HR Officer’s Skills Required
- Previous Payroll experience within an educational or other organisation
- 5 GCSE Grade C or above including English and Maths
- Strong experience of office procedures and administration
- Knowledge of HR administration (desirable)
- Human Resources Level 3 or above (desirable)
- Knowledge and experience of Sage Payroll (desirable)
- Advanced Excel experience including good MS Office skills (including Word, and Outlook)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skills
- Willingness to learn
