We specialise in the recruitment of high quality candidates in the engineering sector. An excellent new opportunity has arisen for a Lead Design Engineer who will organise and manage Control and Instrumentation Design Engineers on a multitude of projects within the gas industry.  You will report directly to the Manager of Engineering Services.

Lead C&I Design Engineer’s Core Duties

  • Take ownership and manage the workload of the C&I Department
  • Ensure designs are delivered to the correct quality in accordance with contract timescales
  • Support and work with other lead engineers to ensure design interfaces are captured
  • Ensure designs are completed in accordance with company procedures and safety design requirements
  • Be involved with the design on multiple projects
  • Approve the team’s designs for formal issue
  • Attend progress meetings both internally and externally
  • Provide reports on a regular basis
  • Develop, coach and mentor your team
  • Secondary duties:
    • Provide support to all departments with any technical direction required
    • Support the activities of the Project Engineers, Project Managers and the Managers of Engineering Services
    • Participate and support the handover design packages to the Manufacturing, Installation and Commissioning teams

Lead C&I Design Engineer’s Key Skills and Experience

  • You must possess a minimum of HNC/HND in an associated discipline
  • You must have knowledge and experience of the full Control and Instrumentation design life cycle of a capital project
  • You must have experience working in a structured capital project design engineering environment
  • Clear understanding of working in or around hazardous areas
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Knowledge of National Grid design processes
