We specialise in the recruitment of high quality candidates in the Technology sector. We have an excellent opportunity for an ICT Technician to work in a team supporting four academies based in Hackney. The network consists of Dell servers running through a VMware virtual environment. Each academy has their own local services with core email services and there are around 1,200 desktops. The role holder will provide first class technical support for hardware, software, basic network management/administration, telephone systems, documentation, helpdesk and consumables.

Contract: £245 - £260 per day for 3+ months

ICT Technician’s Core Duties

  • Work autonomously on helpdesk calls, tracking and resolving basic problems with systems, network hardware and software, monitoring progress through to resolution
  • Support the Director of ICT in maintaining host servers and domain, ensuring the servers are updated and remain secure, and working at optimum efficiency with loss of services minimised
  • Undertake basic network management/administration, e.g. user accounts, information sharing, data security, back-up systems, telephony, etc. with minimum disruption to students and staff
  • Install and configure network hardware, including PCs, laptops, iPads, telephones, mobiles, routers, smartboards, firewalls, switches, etc., ensuring robust testing of equipment before use in the live environment
  • Ensure that consumable items (printer cartridges, toners, etc.) are stocked maintained to a high standard
  • Install and update network software packages, operating systems and applications as appropriate, ensuring the safety and security of information in line with policies and governance arrangements
  • Assist with the maintenance of the hardware asset management system, in line with the financial regulations and audit requirements
  • Set up new starters with network accounts, ICT hardware, access to relevant software and network folders, telephone account, etc. as appropriate
  • Support the management of leavers, ensuring IT and telephone accounts are closed and equipment is returned
  • Ensure the safe storage of data and information systems, restoring data back to the network servers, for both students and staff
  • Support the development and maintenance of back-end systems documentation and quick reference guides for users
  • Set up the ICT requirements for medium to major events and high profile meetings
  • Liaise with external suppliers to resolve ICT related issues

ICT Technician’s Skills Required

  • Experience of working in an IT support role within a school environment
  • Hands on experience with Office 2019, Office 365, Windows 7/8/10 OS
  • Knowledge of Windows server 2012 & 2016
  • Knowledge of Windows networking TCP/IP
  • Knowledge of software deployment and installation
  • Experience installing and configuring computer hardware, telephones, printers, and software
  • Experience of using and administration of users in office 365
  • Troubleshooting and administration of Interactive whiteboard technologies (i.e. projectors)
  • Basic troubleshooting and Administration of Antivirus software (McAfee)
  • Administration of Active Directory, account and group creations both in Office 365 and AD
  • Administration of Netsupport Classroom management and Netsupport DNA
  • Basic Administration and troubleshooting of a centrally managed print solution
  • Experience of working on and operating an IT Service Desk and ticketing system
  • Experience of working in and supporting a VMware virtual environment (desirable)
  • Basic Administration and troubleshooting of Wifi systems and escalating (desirable)
  • Experience of using centrally managed MDM solution for managing and administration of mobile devices, ipads, phones, laptops, Chromebooks (desirable)
  • Customer care experience, liaising with IT users using a helpdesk portal
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead new projects from inception to implementation
  • Set up Audio Visual equipment for events across the academies
