We specialise in the recruitment of high quality candidates in the Education sector. We have an excellent opportunity for a Home School Support Worker.
12-month FTC: Term Time Only - 35 hrs per week, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
Home School Support Worker’s Core Duties
- Participate in the analysis, assessment, and prioritisation of need at a local and school level
- Identify children and young people who would benefit from home-school support and, draw up and implement an action plan for each parent/family
- Develop a 1:1 relationship with parents/families, aimed at achieving the objectives defined in the action plan
- Maintain regular contact with families/carers and work with Learning Mentors where necessary to support the aims and objectives of mentoring
- Work with parents to support, develop and implement the objectives of the home-school support intervention programme
- Monitor, record, report, and evaluate the implementation of all plans using agreed policies, procedures and processes of the school
- Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge and appreciation of the range of services, activities, courses, opportunities, organisations and individuals available for support
- Provide advice on state benefits, adult education courses, routes to employment or family support services that are available locally.
- Promote the safety of pupils and protect them from abuse, using the agreed procedures for identification, responding to disclosure and reporting to the relevant lead professional
- Share information with local agencies, schools, education authorities and other home school support workers, using agreed protocols and procedures
- Participate in professional networks, share and develop best practice and attend local and national training
- Participate in regular caseload and professional supervision, using standard professional protocols and procedures
- To lead on CAF for identified families
Home School Support Worker’s Skills Required
- To have completed or willingness to complete training for Home School Support Workers
- GCSE grade 'C’ or above in English and Mathematics
- Previous experience working with children and young people, parents or community groups
- NVQ3 in Work with Parents or Learning, Development and Support Services (desirable)
- A demonstrable commitment to continuing professional development
- The ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members, parents and community groups
- Basic ICT skills to support administration
- Effective oral and written communication skills across a range of audiences
- The ability to relate effectively to a diverse range of young people and adults
- Personal organisation, time and workload management skills
Home School Support Worker’s Key Experience
- An understanding of how children and young people develop and learn
- An understanding of childcare, parenting skills, and healthy parent-child relationships
- An understanding of the range of potential barriers to learning for pupils
- An understanding of child protection policies and procedures, support services and facilities available to support parents and carers
- An understanding of Health and Safety policy in schools
- An understanding of equalities and inclusion policies and how these are implemented in schools
