We have an excellent opportunity for an Events Manager to join a leading research institute in Norwich on maternity cover for up to 13 months. The role will suit someone who is highly organised, with excellent communication and customer service skills, and who is able to think on their feet.

Events Manager’s Main Duties:

  • Manage the training programme portfolio and other events
  • Organise planning meetings with teaching faculty and facilitate discussions, advising on programme structure and timings
  • Plan, set, and ensure the smooth operational running and administrative aspects of organising events of various sizes and formats, including setting up registration, creating delegate packs and name badges, coordinating and drafting content for event webpages, invoicing, and managing queries
  • Coordinate the collection of statistics, monitoring of events and ensuring evaluations and feedback are collected and collated
  • Coordinate post event evaluation meetings with teaching faculty, sharing delegate feedback and discussing future recommendations
  • Attend and oversee all events on-site and host virtual delegates
  • Produce budget forecasts and monitor budgets per event
  • Welcome speakers and participants, host the registration desk, organise pre-course welcome meetings for virtual events
  • Support the training programme with IT and platform requirements for in person and virtual events via Zoom
  • Troubleshoot and provide support during training events for both speakers and delegates

Events Manager’s Education/Qualifications:

  • Educated to Degree level
  • Significant experience organising events in a professional environment
  • Solid budget management, control, and reporting experience
  • Project management qualification (desirable)
  • Excellent computer literacy, including MS Office, and Zoom for virtual events
  • Familiarity with event management software (desirable)
  • Experience of working with academics / scientific environment (desirable)
  • Excellent time management and ability to perform under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong customer focus and service
  • Ability to work outside of work hours on occasion to manage events
