We specialise in the recruitment of high quality candidates in the Construction and Engineering sectors. We have an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Estimator who will be able to prepare comprehensive and compliant estimates and proposals.  Your role will entail management and logging of enquiries, issuing pricing requests, preparing quotes and proposals.

Electrical Estimator’s Core Duties

  • Ensure timely preparation of proposals, tenders and supporting documentation to meet customer deadlines and submission dates
  • Prepare detailed and accurate estimates
  • Compare and analyse estimates with benchmarks and with competitors
  • Validate and negotiate vendor and sub-contractor quotes
  • Follow up on submitted enquiries and tenders and provide regular feedback to Lead or Senior Estimator and relevant business development teams
  • Improve the return and success rate for customer enquiries and tenders
  • Validate inputs and estimates received from internal support functions, operations, technical specialists and subcontractors or specialist vendors
  • Assisting with the production of and submission of documentation required for pre-qualification questionnaires, RFI’S, tenders and proposals.
  • Gather and prepare technical and cost information, including detailed material take offs, labour costs, equipment and 3rd party costs for inclusion in proposals or tenders
  • Assist with the overall management of the estimating team workload to ensure deadlines are met and proposals are prepared efficiently
  • Participate in internal and external Quality or Commercial related Audits
  • Contribute to company HSSE performance

Electrical Estimator’s Essential Experience required

  • Time Served Electrical Apprenticeship, City & Guilds 236 Parts 1 & 2, Course C, 2330, 2365, including AM2, or 2356-99 Level 3 NVQ qualifications
  • City & Guilds 2382 Level 3 Award in Requirements for Electrical Installations BS7671
  • 3-5 years' experience in Estimation and Cost Engineering
  • 7 years + Project / Construction / Site Experience as an approved electrician
  • Excellent working knowledge of estimating practices, cost engineering, estimating, budgeting, customer order processing, contract management

Electrical Estimator’s Desirable Experience required

  • ONC or HNC in Electrical Engineering. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is desirable
  • 5+ Years in an estimation and/or cost engineering role combined with tendering
  • Commercial or contract management experience with 5-10 years Project / Construction / Site Experience in a Supervisory Role
  • Strong knowledge of standard estimating practices
  • Oil & Gas or Petrochemical Brownfield Modification or EPC contract experience

Skills required

  • Preparation of project plans using Primavera or MS Project
  • Utilisation of Estimating Software
  • Risk Analysis and Management
  • Computer Literate, particularly proficiency in MS Excel
  • Able to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings
  • Proficiency in MS Excel
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective negotiating skills and good commercial awareness
  • Able to work in deadline-driven environments and work within teams
