We specialise in the recruitment of high quality candidates in the BioScience sector. We have an excellent opportunity for a Contracts Manager that will work alongside the current Contracts Managers to lead on drafting and negotiating sponsored research agreements, collaborating agreements, commercial contracts, confidentiality agreements, consultancy agreements and material transfer agreements.

Contracts Manager’s Core Duties

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating terms of research and commercial contracts
  • Ensure that institutional risk is identified, assessed, and mitigated
  • Liaise with teams as necessary to ensure a thorough understanding of their aims in the context of each contract, and hence that the contract terms are appropriate
  • Ensure the teams are kept regularly informed of the status of contract development / negotiation and are appropriately involved
  • Develop and maintain a trusted good working relationship with internal and external customers
  • Work closely with the other members of the Contracts Team and Business Development managers, to ensure effective and co-ordinated approaches
  • Liaise with HR and Finance matters using best practice to facilitate efficient contractual management and best use of resources
  • Maintain a good understanding of and implementation of the company’s policies
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of critical regulatory requirements and / or policy issues
  • Facilitate and liaise with third parties and ensure the interests of the institute are protected
  • Deal with ongoing IP protection and matters as they arise

Contracts Manager’s Skills required

  • Educated to degree level - qualification in IP law/processes desirable
  • Proven recent experience in clear concise legal drafting - experience of IP management and protection desirable
  • Able to multi-task and manage diverse workloads, assimilate information from various sources and deliver to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Able to work independently within a broad framework and results driven
  • A problem solver
  • Good working knowledge of IT packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and databases)

Contracts Manager’s Key Experience

  • Significant recent experience of contract law and drafting and reviewing contracts
  • Significant recent experience of negotiating contracts and Intellectual property
