We specialise in the recruitment of high-quality candidates in the Stock & Logistics sector. We have an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Stock Controller to assist in the co-ordination of all stock accounting and administrative procedures, client allocations and the computerised stocks system.

You will also be required to assist in the efficient operation of the Control Room and assist the Lead Stocks Planner with the shipping schedule and developing import plans for operations.

Role is offered initially on a long term contract 6-9 months with the potential to become a permanent role. The salary s £25,000 to £30,000 however they could possibly increase if they find the ideal candidate.

Assistant Stock Controller’s Core Duties

  • Establish working knowledge of all Control Room automated operations
  • Assist with the efficient running of the road loading operations
  • Assist in the preparation, correlation and balance of client’s daily and month end stocks
  • Ensure correct client stock documentation is prepared at the required periods
  • Assist with HMRC documentation that is provided for and by clients, agents and shippers to prevent transgression of customs requirements
  • Liaise with clients to control distribution of stock
  • Monitor client stock position to facilitate the import of product
  • Liaise with Lead Stocks Planner, Stocks Supervisor and Manager regarding client stock positions and ensure correct balances are maintained
  • Liaise with HMRC and VAT officers to ensure compliance with current regulations
  • Assist in the carrying out of audits as instructed by the Stocks Supervisor
  • Assist with the preparation of client out-turns, shipping movements and transfers, ensuring accuracy is maintained at all times
  • Provide support with system updates and modifications (internal and external)
  • Maintain all necessary records for the administration of contracts and provide statistical information as required
  • Assist in carrying out periodic stock reconciliations as necessary
  • Carry out additional responsibilities and duties as necessary
  • Treat with the utmost discretion any information, privileged or otherwise, which may be acquired in the line of duty regarding products, client activities and the Company, and any information identified as private and confidential.
  • Monitor client throughputs on a daily basis and update information for planning purposes
  • Act as deputy for the Stocks Supervisor and Lead Stocks Planner in their absence

Assistant Stock Controller’s Skills required

  • Good general standard of education
  • Highly developed literacy and numeracy skills
  • Health and Safety qualification (desirable, but not essential)
  • At least 2 - 5 years’ experience carrying out general office duties
  • Experience of working with a wide range of people at all levels
  • Experience of dealing with customers / clients’ representatives
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of HMRC and VAT regulations
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the business
  • Ability to work with and co-ordinate between departments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and Word and working with databases
  • Ability to work under pressure on own initiative, without close supervision
  • Ability to work as part of a team, both internally and externally
  • Have an understanding of how a busy office environment operates
  • Ability to work flexible hours and deal with operational problems
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly
