DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•To lead on the management of casework, relating to:
i.Sickness absence and health (including stress). This includes making recommendations, giving advice and support to managers, liaising with Occupational Health, case review meetings, and hearings.
ii.Capability/competency/performance management
iii.Timekeeping and attendance
iv.Disciplinary and grievances
v.Planning, preparation and auditing of lesson observations
vi.Investigations •To issue appropriate contractual documentation in relation to appointments, terminations and variations of employment
•To advise managers on recruitment and selection issues, including development of job descriptions, person specifications, selection processes and participating in interview panels when necessary.
•To keep up to date with developments in employment legislation and human resources best practice, knowledge sharing with management and staff
•To be available/respond to all staff requiring assistance with HR issues & enquiries •Maintain absolute confidentiality with sensitive materials & an awareness of the need for complete discretion in handling Human Resources, payroll & financial issues.
•To assist with the maintenance of the campus HR files, paying particular attention to confidentiality & the importance of security checks, references, probation reviews & doctors certificates etc.
•To ensure the coherence of permanent records, chasing colleagues & external contacts for updated information where necessary.
•To provide an HR advisory and administrative service, in relation to absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievance matters, organisational change and the range of employment and employee relations matters.
•To develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with the local Council, colleagues and union representatives, establishing professional credibility
•Working with middle managers to develop HR confidence
