Role: Facilities Manager
Location: Central London
Duration: Temp to Permanent
Main purpose of the role
This post which will have line management responsibility for a wide range of customer orientated support services concerned with the management, development and maintenance of the Academy's services and facilities to the following sections: •Space management •Catering •Cleaning •Portering •Security •Utilities (including energy and waste) management •New build/major refurbishment •Building maintenance •Health & Safety •Event Management •Project Management
Overall Duties/responsibilities: •Drive cultural change and process improvement throughout the Facilities department developing Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Specifications for all teams within the department. •Act as line manager for the functions detailed above to ensure the management of staffing issues including induction, objective setting, appraisal, performance management, and staff development so as to ensure the effective development of the Facilities department. •Develop management strategies for all areas of responsibility to provide continuous improvement and value for money and develop a centre of excellence. •Provide robust reporting and forecasting both budgetary and against defined project parameters. •Direct and control the efficient and coordinated day to day operation and management of premises and services through staff and external contractors. •To lead and develop the preparation and implementation of efficient and effective planned maintenance programmes including a rolling plan for refurbishment and decoration of Academy properties and buildings. •Develop space management and review processes which critically examine space utilisation standards, plan best allocation and utilisation of space and resources and space fitness for purpose. •To manage the catering function ensuring the highest levels of customer service are achieved through the delivery of a high quality service in compliance with legislation, government guidance (e.g. Every Child Matters agenda) within budget and to ensure the function is adequately resourced. •To manage the cleaning/portering function ensuring all buildings/rooms are maintained to a high level of cleanliness and portering requests are actioned in a timely manner. •Ensure ‘Responsible Persons’ are in place for statutory compliance in relation to the management of management of asbestos, control of legionella, electricity at work, pressure vessel systems, gas safety, DDA, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSSH), LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998), PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998), the maintenance and assurance of approved codes of practice, Working at Height Regulations 2005 and Construction, Design & management regulations. •Ensure that line management responsibilities for Health and Safety matters are established, understood by managers and ensure that procedures are established and maintained that support business continuity and the Academy’s Health & Safety Policy. •Be responsible for ensuring that the Academy’s waste is disposed of by the most economic and environmentally friendly means.
